Spring has sprung, and if there is one thing I love, it’s a good seasonal playlist. My musical tastes tend to go though seasonal cycles, and I love putting together mixes to compliment the weather. This time I decided to be a bit more ambitious, so I’ve put together my very first recorded DJ mix… whoo-hooo!

In summer, I always tend to listen to hot, sweaty music- disco, house, and electro-pop. Autumn is perfect for downtempo/idm/electronica along the lines of Boards of Canada, Bibio, and Burial. Winter is when I break out the darker techno music and chilly indie/electronic groups like Ladytron and The Knife.

Spring is a bit different though; music that sounds “spring-like” to me is all about finding a specific energy and tone, rather than sticking to a genre. The eclectic mix I put together, which ranges from ambient and IDM to pulsing electro and effervescent techno, hopefully reflects that vibe. I wanted to make a mix that captured the feeling of crisp cool sunlight, leaves bursting from trees, flowers blooming, and the general sense of renewal and hopeful energy that Spring brings.
